Ms. Jimison
Sheila Jimison - Growing up I wanted to be a teacher, a nanny, and work with children of all ages. As I entered college though, I did not want to be around the politics of education but knew I still wanted to work with children. I worked in daycares and early childhood centers through college to get some experience. After earning my bachelors in Family Consumer Sciences I started my first job with OSU Cooperative Extension as a 4-H/HCE Educator. (I didn’t get far from the political side of education, LOL). After three years there, I became a nanny for three years. From one side of the stress spectrum to the other I went. After my short stint of being a nanny I became a paraprofessional for five years that re-awoke my desire to teach. I decided at this time, I could endure the political side of education and started the process of obtaining my certification. I obtained my alternative certification in Family Consumer Sciences and Mild/Mod Special Education; however, the only positions available were in western Oklahoma and I did not want to move too far from the Tulsa area. During this time I was also acting as a children’s minister at my home church in Sand Springs. As I began to look for teaching positions and apply for jobs, I had about four small school districts in mind; however, God had other plans. As my feet hit the ground that morning, He told me to check out Cleveland since it was just down the street. So, I grabbed my resumes and headed to the administration office not believing or thinking that I would be certified for anything available. Little did I know I would enter the door and wind up in an unofficial/official interview for a special education position for high school English. As I enter my 13th year of teaching, I have been able to do everything I have ever wanted to do and be. I enjoy teaching students and wouldn’t change it for anything.
I love to travel across America, even went to Kenya, Africa on a mission trip with my church. I like Mickey Mouse, TV Shows: Friends, NCIS, Summer I Turned Pretty, Sweet Magnolias, Outer Banks, My Life with the Walter Boys, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD, along with Grey’s Anatomy.
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2023, this causes fatigue, short term memory issues, body pain in the winter, in the summer I get muscle fatigue. I had hip surgery to repair a labrum tear and remove a bone spur. I spent 6 weeks without putting weight on my right leg and am in my final month of P/T.
